Chiku-Chiku is the term used for a simple running stitch in Japan. This basic hand stitch is used to join fabrics, to darn, to mend, and to hem and is used all over the world.
We can describe the interplay of chiku-chiku and negative space as ‘simple’ – this is true in its execution, however its function, versatility and decorative qualities are extensive. This technique will be explored in the workshop with multiple motifs available. Chiku-Chiku is relaxing and meditative, truly a ’slow stitch’!
